今回で5回目を迎えるARTISTS’ FAIR KYOTOは、アーティストオリエンテッドの新たな自立型マーケット生成という初期の目的を達しながら、基礎体力というレベルでようやくスタート地点に立ちつつあるという実感を持っています。初回を立ち上げる時にマイクロマーケットの育成から、将来的には国際展とアートフェアを融合させた、まだ見ぬアートシステムに育ってくれる事を願い　“Singularity“（特異点）というコピーを用意しました。なぜこのような荒唐無稽な構想を思い描けたのか・・・。その根拠は“KYOTO”という世界でも特異な都市の歴史に負うところが大きいと考えています。前回よりメイン協賛との共同でアートアワードが誕生。今回は清水寺という京都を代表する古刹に、新たなアドバイザリーに国際的に活躍されている宮島達男氏を迎えた展覧会を開催いたします。これらの成長過程は、この運動体が新たなフェーズに入りつつある事を予感させます。科学的エビデンスを持ってCOVID-19と向き合い、アジア各国のアーティストやファンが初春の京都に集う未来は、もう手の届くところにやって来ています。

Reaching its 5th edition, there is a sense of reality that the ARTISTS' FAIR KYOTO is finally reaching the starting line in terms of basic stamina, while reaching our initial goal of building a new, artist-oriented independent market. From its start up and the development of a micro market, and with the hope that in the future it will grow into a yet unknown art system that merges international exhibition and art fair, we selected "singularity" as our copy. Why did we depict such a preposterous concept...? I believe this stems in the history of Kyoto, an anomaly as a city even in the vast world. An art award with our main partner was born in the previous edition. This edition, we will hold an exhibition at Kiyomizu-dera, the ancient temple of Kyoto, welcoming internationally acclaimed Tatsuo Miyajima as our new advisory member. These progressive steps hint that this body of movement is entering a new phase. The future where we confront COVID-19 with scientific evidence, and artists and fans of Asia meet in the early spring of Kyoto, is already just there within our reach.
