清田泰寛 Yasuhiro Kiyota
Profile
1985年、大阪生まれ。2011年3月 京都市立芸術大学大学院美術研究科修士課程絵画専攻油画修了。自分が普段使う言葉から湧いてくる、絶えず変化する視覚的なイメージをもとにして、その瞬間の自分の心情と絡めて、図像や筆触を通して絵画表現にできないかと考え、油彩、アクリルを使い平面作品に取り組む。京都を拠点に活動中。主な展覧会に「Melody Buff」（ホテル アンテルーム 京都 GALLERY9.5）など。
Born in Osaka, 1985. Kiyota received his MFA in oil painting at Kyoto City University of Arts in March 2011. He works on oil and acrylic paintings to express the ever-changing visual images that arise from the words he uses in his daily life. Currently based in Kyoto.

Statement
さまざまなことばの印象や韻律は、日々移りゆく私の心情と合わせてまるで和音のようにシルエットの重なりとなって現れては消える。それを筆運びの積み重ねとつなげることができたら、絵画表現として何かが生まれるかもしれないと思い、描いている。でも最近はそんなことを考えるより先にキャンバスに向かうと筆がおのずと動くことが多くなってきているので、まあいいや、とも。
The impressions and prosodies of various words come to my mind as visual images like overlapping silhouettes, like chords combined with my changing emotions. I believe that I can create something new as a painting, by expressing these overlapping images on the canvas with the accumulation of brushstrokes as I paint. Recently however, I’ve been moving my brush more and more before I’m aware of the image.

清田は私が現役教授の時は立体の構造的絵画を描いていた。立体ではあるが、あくまでも壁から突き出た絵画としての枠に入るものである。
最近は平面に帰り、描く事の本質に迫ろうと油絵具をはじめ様々な材料を駆使して描いている。一見自由に描いているようだが、平面的な構造を基本とした作品が多かった。最近の作品は、描く行為そのものと格闘しながら平面絵画を生みだそうと真正面から描いている。
今後の展開が楽しみである。

Kiyota used to paint three-dimensional paintings with structure when I was still a professor. They were three-dimensional, but within the category of paintings that protruded from the wall.
Recently, he has returned to two-dimensions, and uses various mediums including oil paints to approach the essence of painting. It seemed like he was painting freely at a glance, but a lot of his work was based on a planar structure. His recent work has been painted very directly, to create two-dimensional paintings fighting with the action of painting itself.
I am excited for his future development.
