椿野成身 Narumi Tsubakino

1995年大阪生まれ。2020年京都造形芸術大学大学院修士課程修了。
現在は、京都を拠点に活動。
「視覚と記憶の揺らぎと曖昧さ」をテーマに主に絵画を制作している。

Born in Osaka in 1995. Completed his master’s degree at Kyoto University of the Arts in 2020. Currently based in Kyoto.
Tsubakino primarily creates paintings that explore the fluctuation and ambiguity of vision and memory.
Major exhibitions include “6 Artists” (Gallery Koyanagi, 2022), “echo chamber” (EUKARYOTE, 2022), “five” (Nihombashi Mitsukoshi Main Store Contemporary Gallery, 2022), “The Echoes of East Kyoto” (WHAT CAFE, 2024), “Do You Remember? – No, I Don’t.” (yuge alternative space, 2024), and What I am (mikke gallery, 2025).

Statement

視覚の揺らぎや曖昧さをテーマに、風景を描いている。

自身が撮影した異なる場所の断片を組み合わせ、重ねることで、時間や空間が交錯する風景を生み出す。目の前の景色を通じて記憶を辿ろうとするが、それは視界の隅で揺らめく残像のように曖昧だ。しかし、そうして構築された風景は、見知らぬものでありながら既視感を伴い、複数の視点が折り重なることで、新たな空間として立ち現れる。

Tsubakino explores themes of visual fluctuation and ambiguity through landscape painting.

By combining and layering fragments of different places he photographs, he creates landscapes where time and space intersect. While Tsubakino attempts to trace memories through the scenery before him, they remain as vague as afterimages flickering at the edge of his vision. Yet, the landscapes thus constructed, though unfamiliar, evoke a sense of déjà vu; as multiple perspectives overlap, they emerge as entirely new spaces.

椿野の絵画は、見る者の記憶をそっと揺さぶる。重ね合わされた風景の断片は、時間や空間の層をまといながら、どこでもなく、どこかを思わせる景色として立ち上がる。
意味を解かれたまなざしは、知覚の底に沈んでいた像を引き寄せ、私たちの中に、かつてそこに在ったかもしれない世界の感触を呼び覚ます。

Tsubakino’s paintings gently stir the memory of its viewers. The overlapping fragments of landscapes wear layers of time and space – they manifest as a scene that is nowhere, yet familiar.
Our eyes, liberated from meaning, bring forth images that had sunk into the depths of our perception, and awaken sensations of a world that once may have existed within us.
