矢部もなみ Monami Yabe
Profile
2000年神奈川県生まれ。2024年武蔵野美術大学造形学部彫刻学科卒業。2025年武蔵野美術大学造形研究科修士課程美術専攻彫刻コース在籍。木彫を中心に制作。遠くにあるものや、近くにあるもの、何かと何かの間にある、移動していく空間を、今ここに立ち上げることを試みている。主な展覧会に2024年「卒業・修了制作 優秀作品展」武蔵野美術大学美術館、2025年「群馬青年ビエンナーレ2025」群馬県立近代美術館など。
Born in Kanagawa in 2000. Graduated from the Department of Sculpture, College of Art and Design, Musashino Art University in 2024. Currently enrolled in the master’s program in Fine Arts (Sculpture Course), Graduate School of Musashino Art University.
Yabe primarily creates wooden sculptures. She attempts to enact things that are in the distant, things close by, spaces that are moving that are in between things, in the here and now. Major exhibitions include “Selected Works from Graduation and Thesis Projects 2024” at Musashino Art University Museum, and Gunma Biennale for Young Artists 2025 at the Museum of Modern Art, Gunma.

Statement
記憶を出発点に、目の前に立ち上げるものが、一直線ではない時間の中で、果てしない距離と小さな距離の中で、今ここの空間の中で、移動の可能性を持ったものであることを試みている。
遠くにあるものや、近くにあるもの、何かと何かの間にある、移動していく空間を今ここに立ち上げたい。
I strive to demonstrate that the entity I create before my eyes from my memories has the potential to travel, in a non-linear time, in great distances and small distances, and in this space here and now.
I want to enact in the here and now, things that are in the distant, things close by, and spaces that are moving, that are in between things.

さまざまな機会に日本各地の若いアーティストたちのポートフォリオを閲覧することが多くなっている。AFKを含め、アップデートし続けるそれらのプラットフォームは、毎年あたらしい星の発見につながっている。その人の作品は、なめらかで濃密なノミの跡が、重力を消すように浮かび、久々に「彫刻」という漢字がど真ん中からこっちに飛び掛かってくるように感じた。世界がどのように変容しても、数多くの生命体が筋肉を持ち、それらを輝かせながら疾走する限り、マリノ・マリーニの馬と騎手が持つ圧倒的な支配力は我々をとらえて離さない。液晶から身体へ！質量が衝突する作品に出会える事を楽しみにしている。

Increasingly frequently I’ve had chances at various times to browse the portfolios of young artists from all over Japan. These platforms that continue to update, including AFK, lead to the discovery of new stars each year. With the smooth rich traces of the chisel that appear as if to remove gravity, it felt as if the word sculpture came pouncing over this way right from the centre of her work. However the world transforms, as long as great numbers of life forms have muscles, radiating them as they sprint, the overwhelming influence Marino Marini’s Horse and Rider has will not let us go. From the display to the body! I am excited to meet her artwork where masses collide.
