1998年 韓国釜山生まれ。長野県出身。
2022年 京都芸術大学美術工芸学科油画コース卒業
2024年 京都芸術大学大学院修士課程芸術専攻油画領域修了
京都を拠点に活動。
Born in 1998 in Busan, South Korea. Raised in Nagano.
2022 Graduated from the Oil Painting Course, Department of Fine and Applied Arts, Kyoto University of the Arts.
2024 Completed the master’s program in Oil Painting, Graduate School of Arts, Kyoto University of the Arts.
Currently based in Kyoto.

Statement
幼い頃、薄暗い部屋に山から反射した光が入るアパートの一室で風で揺れるカーテンを見つめる時間が好きだった。その感覚を求めて記憶を彷徨うように画面上で動物や静物、色彩等様々なものを配置しながら描いている。
As a child I used to love watching the curtains blowing in the wind, in the dim room of the flat where light would reflect in from the mountains. I paint, positioning animals, still life, colours, and various things on the canvas in search of this feeling, as if to wander in my memories.

白石は少年時代を山深い地域で過ごした。その記憶は長い時間を経た今も心の奥底に息づき、作品の基盤となっている。微かなイメージの断片や日々の営みの記憶は、画面の上で結び合わされ、現実には存在しない「ありそうでない風景」として立ち現れる。そこには、誰にでも共通する懐かしさや、どこかで見たことのある光景にも似た感覚が宿っている。彼の描く世界は、曖昧な輪郭や勢いのあるストロークによって形づくられる。その筆致は光を捉え、現実のイメージと記憶が画面の中で溶け合うことで、新しくも懐かしい風景が生まれる。それは、白石の作品が単に過去を描くのではなく、「記憶を媒介に新たな風景を立ち上げる」試みであることを物語っている。

Shiraishi spent his childhood in a mountainous area. Even after a long time has passed, these memories still breathe at the bottom of his heart, forming the foundation of his work. Subtle fragments of images and memories of daily life, bond together on the canvas, to manifest as a near-plausible landscape that does not exist in real life. A sense of nostalgia shared by all, or a feeling of a scenery that seems familiar lies there. The world he depicts is formed with ambiguous outlines and powerful strokes. This brushwork captures light; as real images and memories melt together in the screen, a new yet nostalgic landscape emerges. This indicates that Shiraishi’s work does not simply depict the past, but is an attempt to create a new landscape through memory as a medium.
