湯浅敬介 Keisuke Yuasa

Profile

1996年京都府に生まれる。幼少期から油絵に触れ、現・京都芸術大学こども芸術学科を2018年に卒業。その後、ニューヨークで１ヶ月間の滞在制作を行う。
表象をテーマに制作を続ける。実像と自分の中にある像との齟齬、自分のイメージ像を描きおこす中で、イメージの表れ方と残留について制作を通して考える。現在京都を拠点に活動。

Born in Kyoto, 1996. He was exposed to oil painting since early childhood, and graduated from Kyoto University of the Arts, Department of Children’s Art in 2018. He then spent one month in New York City for a residency.
Representation is his theme as he continues production. He explores the discrepancy between a real image and the image inside the mind, and how the image appears and remains during the process of portraying the image.

Statement

人物との関わりや想いを素材に、Figureを描いています。
それは留めておかなければ流れていってしまうものだと感じています。

現在生活している世界では自分の中にイメージを留めて置く時間が少なくなっていっているのかもしれません。
人は覚える、通り過ぎる(又は忘れる)、思い出す、抜け落ちるという行為を繰り返します。

忘れたイメージを取り戻すこと、抜け落ちたことを受け入れたり、すくい上げることで表現を試みています。

I draw figures using the feelings and relations with people as subject.
I feel that these are things that will drift away if I don’t keep them in my mind.

In the world we live in today, we may be having less and less time to hold images in our minds.
We repeat the acts of remembering, passing (or forgetting), recalling, and slipping away.

I try to express myself by retrieving forgotten images, and accepting or scooping up what has slipped through the cracks.

表象をテーマに絵画を制作している湯浅は、実像と頭の中から消えた自分の中にある像との齟齬を解釈し、自分のイメージとして描きおこす中で生まれる、イメージの表れ方や残像を考え作品を制作している。

人は覚える・忘れる、思い出す・抜け落ちるという行為を繰り返す。

湯浅はイメージと実像の狭間に独自の表象の成り立ちを考え、その過程を作品の表現として試むことにより絵画の可能性を探っている。

With representation as his theme in creating paintings, Yuasa interprets the discrepancies between a real image and the image inside him after it leaves his head, and reflects on the afterimages or the way an image is portrayed, as he depicts these imaginations of his own during production.

People repeat the process of learning, forgetting, remembering, and things slipping through.

Yuasa explores the possibilities of paintings by reflecting on the origin of his representations that lie between an imagination and a real image, and applying this process as an expression in his artwork.
