Statement

日常に見られる工業製品などの素材や、日常の中のさりげない行為に焦点を当て、それらを手掛かりにして作品制作につなげている。膨大な作業をひたすらに繰り返すことから、そうした何気ない日常をリフレームし、物の価値について改めて考えるきっかけをつくることを目指している。

My artworks are inspired from familiar industrial materials and nonchalant actions people take in everyday life. Through the countless repetitions of simple movements in the process of creation, I intend to reframe the sceneries of casual days and give the audience cues to rethink the values of materials.

長田綾美はブルーシートやバラス石、不織布などの工業製品を用いて作品を制作している。石やプラスチック球などが膨大な時間をかけて糸でくくられ細かく布の中に閉じ込められている。気が遠くなるような作業を繰り返し毎日行うことから生じる感覚を作品にとどめている作家である。

Ayami Nagata creates artwork using industrial products such as tarp, ballast stones and non-woven fabrics. Stones and plastic balls are delicately trapped inside fabrics with an immeasurable amount of time. She is an artist that ties the feelings that emerge from repeating the same tedious process every day into her work
