Sets out with Setouchi Triennale 2022 Prefectural excursion project “Oidemai Festival 2022 -Art that connects the hearts of the city-”.

Statement

モフモフ・コレクティブとは現代美術作家ヤノベケンジ氏によって癒しと安らぎを届けることを目的に結成されたアートユニットです。メンバーはモフモフとした柔らかな素材を用いた作品シリーズを展開する小西葵、山口京将によって構成されています。

Mofumofu Collective is an art unit formed by contemporary artist Kenji Yanobe with the aim of delivering healing and peace. Members are Aoi Konishi and Kyosuke Yamaguchi, who develops a series of works using soft and fluffy materials.

「世界の人々に癒しと安らぎを」。暗雲立ち込める2022年にこの世界を変えるべく小西葵、山口京将らによって誕生したアート・コレクティブ。各々の作品コンセプトは違えども「モフモフ」という生物の遺伝子に擦り決まれた無意識的美的感受を探求する動機は共通している。ポップアート、オルデンバーグの「ソフト・スカルプチュア」やギルバート＆ジョージの「生きる彫刻」の美術史の文脈も強く意識している。

“Peace and healing to the people of the world”. An art collective formed between Aoi Konishi and Kyosuke Yamaguchi to change this world in a dark tumultuous 2022. Though both have a different concept of work, their motivation to explore the unconscious aesthetical susception rubbed into the genes of organisms towards “mofu-mofu” is shared. They are also strongly influenced by the context of art history, Oldenburg’s soft sculptures, and Gilbert & George’s living sculptures in pop art.
