2013 ユトレヒト芸術大学(HKU)交換留学

Born in Aichi prefecture, Japan. She graduated with a BFA in printmaking from Kyoto Seika University and studied abroad at the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht in Netherlands.

Statement

頭の中で粘土のようにこねたモチーフたちを、自身の空間に配置し、絵に描きおこしている。絵を通して、自分も他者も見たことのない知らない場所へ連れていきたい。

I knead motifs in my mind like clay, arrange them in my own space, and depict them into a picture. Through my paintings, I want to take myself and others to places we have never seen before.

落ち着いた低い彩度で人や植物、動物、鉱物や道具などが描かれている。それらは漸くそれと分かる大胆なデフォルメが施され、画面上をパズルように埋め尽くす。知恵の輪のように絡み合った幾多のモチーフから紡がれる絵は、神話のように観る者に無限のイメージと確かな質感を与えてくれる。近年、イラストレーターとしての仕事も増えてきているが、どんな絵にもその質感が感じられるところに彼女の本質があるように思える。

People, plants, animals, minerals and tools are depicted in a calm and low chroma. They are boldly deformed so they are just barely recognisable, and fill the screen like a puzzle. The painting portrayed with numerous motifs entangled together like a metal puzzle, gives the viewer infinite images and the sure texture of a mythology. In recent years she has also been working more often as an illustrator, and I see her nature, in the fact that this texture can be felt in any of her drawings.
