福本健一郎 Kenichiro Fukumoto
Profile
1986年、広島県生まれ。2014年、東京藝術大学大学院美術研究科修士課程を修了。現在は、東京を拠点に絵画や彫刻作品を制作。
古今東西の博物図鑑、様々な民族のタペストリー、土や海の微生物、身の回りの観葉植物などの形や色から着想を得て、太古から続く人類の創作物と自然との関係に想いを馳せながら制作している。
近年は、絵画に古紙や和紙などを用いたり、彫刻に、流木や古材など時を経た木や、自ら土を練って焼いた陶芸の異なる素材や質感を組み合わせている。
Born in Hiroshima in 1986. Lives and works in Tokyo. Received M.A. in Fine Art from Tokyo University of Arts, Japan.
I create work inspired by the shapes and colors of natural history encyclopedias of all origins, tapestries of various ethnic groups, microorganisms in the soil and sea, and foliage plants around us, while exploring the relationship between human creations and nature that has continued since the ancient times.
In recent years, I have been using waste paper and Japanese paper for my paintings, and for sculptures, have combined different materials and textures such as old wood including driftwood and old materials, and pottery kneaded and fired from clay.

風景や人などの記憶の奥底に刻まれたあらゆる瞬間を切り取りながら描いています。
I paint every moment etched deep in the memory of landscapes and people.

I’d known Fukumoto’s work from quite a while ago, and longed for him to take a step further.
Finally, in his new work I feel he has grasped his cue to proceed a little. I recommended him hoping that mixing with the young artists in their 20s will become an opportunity for Fukumoto to think about his painting career, that may finally begin.
