Statement

画家。油彩画を中心に制作。絵画における平面性の中で、「存在すること」とは何かを問う「存在の点滅」作品を展開。
絵画の中に人が居るということが何なのかをテーマにした「匣人物」シリーズ、あるリンゴと、ある絵画を入れ替えることで絵画を存在させる「W/D/H」シリーズなど。他、作家本人の存在を探るパフォーマンス、展示とは何かをテーマにした空間表現も行う。

Painter. Mainly works with oil paintings. I develop works on the “Blinking of Existence” that question what it means to exist, in the flatness of paintings.
My works include the “Box Figure” series, which explores what it means for a person to be in a painting, and the “W/D/H” series, in which paintings exist by replacing an apple with a painting.
In addition, I engage in performances which explores my own existence as an artist, and spatial expressions questioning what an exhibition is.

彼女は、リンゴのイメージを描くことを回避しながら「本当にリンゴが在る」ことを証明しようとする。これを絵画のイリュージョンと反イリュージョンの比較的観点に当てはめてしまうことは、いささか彼女の思考の本質とはズレてしまう。それは、私たちが本能的に感じ取っている、客観的に検証される自然科学と主観の谷間で生ずる精神の矛盾と違和感への具体的なアプローチであり、彼女は作品を通して「当然」と呼ばれる物事の断面を私たちに見せてくれるだろう。

She tries to prove that an apple really exists, whilst evading painting the image of an apple. Putting this into the comparative perspective of illusion and anti-illusion in paintings, would be to miss the point of the nature of her thoughts. It is a specific approach to the contradiction and discomfort of the mind, that is created between natural sciences that are tested objectively and the subjective, which we instinctively sense; she will show us the cross-section of whatever is ‘obvious’ through her artwork.
