1996年兵庫県生まれ。
現在、京都市立芸術大学大学院 美術研究科 工芸専攻 陶磁器 在学中。

「京都市立芸術大学作品展」同窓会賞、「アートアワードトーキョー丸の内2020」審査員 建畠晢賞・審査員 長谷川新賞、「群馬青年ビエンナーレ2021」奨励賞を受賞。

Born in Hyogo, 1996. Currently enrolled in the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Kyoto City University of Arts with a degree in ceramics.
Awards include Alumni Association Prize at “Kyoto City University of Arts Art Exhibition”, Akira Tatehata Prize and the Arata Hasegawa Prize at “Art Award Tokyo Marunouchi 2020”, and Encouragement Prize at “Gunma Biennale for Young Artists 2021”.

Statement

文字を造形の骨子とした陶造形を制作しています。
ただし、作品からモチーフの文字を読み取ることはできません。作品は、文字の形態を依り代としながらも、その部分的形状と連想した出来事の印象が入り混じる抽象形態をしています。
土と自身とのやりとりから成る造形を慎重に探り、内側と外側が存在する手捻りの技法的特性を活かした陶造形を追求します。

I create ceramic sculptures that use letters as the framework of their forms.
However, it is not possible to read the motif letters from the work. While using the form of the letters as a substitute, my works are abstract forms in which the partial shapes and the impressions of associated events are mixed together.
I carefully explore the forms that result from the interaction between the clay and myself, and pursue ceramic forms that make the most of the technical characteristics of hand-twisting, which has an inner and outer structure.

人と動物を選別するのは、一つにはことばの使用であり、また一つには芸術という摩訶不思議なものをつくりだすことにあるだろう。但し後者は、概念芸術のような視覚的効果を逸脱した領域に進出してから、情けないことにことばの補助が必要になった。木田陽子の土の造形は、そのような今日の芸術の急所をあぶり出すかのように、その不遇なる「ことば」をウィットに富んだかたちで表し出している。そして、あらためて鑑賞者に造形物を見ることの可能性を実感させてくれるのである。

One thing that separates humans from animals, could be the use of words, and another, art, the act of creating mysterious objects. However, with the latter, since its progress into domains outside of visual expression like with conceptual art, deplorably the aid of words has become necessary. Yoko Kida’s clay sculptures, express these unfortunate ‘words’ in a witty manner, to expose the weak points of modern art. They reinforcingly allow the viewer to experience the possibility of appreciating sculptures.
