1996年、京都府生まれ。
2021年京都市立芸術大学大学院絵画専攻油画修了。
受賞歴に、「京都市立芸術大学2018年度作品展」市長賞受賞。主な個展に、「ホログラムりんごのデッサン」KUNST ARZT（京都）。
主なグループ展に「窓と外」gallery opaltimes（大阪）、「Slow Culture」京都市立芸術大学ギャラリー＠KCUA（京都）、等。
現在、京都を拠点に活動。

Statement
画像や映像、CGなど大量のイメージに囲まれた日常生活の中で「曖昧になる実在感」をテーマに絵画を制作する。
イメージの中に存在する虚構のモチーフを用いて、見て描く行為自体に主眼を置き、平面や立体の支持体に「表面」として描き出す。
Hori Sotaro creates paintings with the theme of “existence becoming ambiguous” in our daily lives surrounded by large quantities of images, such as pictures, videos, and computer graphics. Using fictional motifs that exist in images, Hori places focus on the act of looking and painting, and depicts them as “surfaces” on flat and three-dimensional supports.

「見て描く」という単純であり本質的な行為によって“表面“を描く彼は、その“表面“のテクスチャの絶妙な制御によって虚像を生み出す。壁に設置されたレリーフ状のハリボテ構造には、その実際の凹凸とは異なるズレたイメージがマッピングされ、見る者に錯視に似た体験を引き起こさせる。油絵具によって表現された緻密な色の重なりに、造形の曖昧さが加わることで作品から放たれる奇妙な“実在感“を是非感じて欲しい。
