赤松加奈 Kana Akamatsu

Profile

1990年生まれ、奈良県在住。
2015年京都造形芸術大学大学院芸術表現専攻修了。
以後関西を中心に活動している。群馬青年ビエンナーレ2019大賞受賞。
結婚し農業をする傍ら絵を描き、また、高校やフリースクールなどで子どもたちと絵を通して交流をしてきた。農業風景の中にある生と死、そしておおらかで切実な周囲の人々の姿を描いている。

Born in 1990, lives in Nara.
Completed major in Art Expression, Kyoto University of the Arts Graduate School in 2015.
Based mainly in Kansai. Received the Gunma Youth Biennale 2019 Grand Prize.
Since getting married, she has painted alongside farming, and interacts with children through art at high schools and various kind of schools.
Akamatsu’s paintings express the “life and death” in the agricultural landscape, and the generous people of her surroundings.

Statement

農業をし、人と関わり、絵を描いている。
この１、2年で”ここで描いていこう”と思った。もやもやしていたかたまりが、腹に落ちていって、足に力が入った気がした。この場所で描いている。
自然に人の手を入れ、生と死が混じり合い、絶妙なバランスをとりながらこの景色はできている。目の前の景色は常に流動している。
人もそうだ。柔らかな関わり合いによって表情がかわっていく。
私はそんな奇跡的な一瞬を描き留めたい。

I paint, farm, and interact with people.
In the past one or two years, I made a decision to paint here.
It felt like the vague lump that was stuck, had been digested, and I could stand strong. I paint here.
Humans change nature – life and death mix together, and this scenery is composed in a perfect balance. The scenery in front of us is always flowing.
Humans also change, by soft interactions with others.
I want to paint that miraculous moment.

２０１９年群馬青年ビエンナーレの審査で、赤松さんの作品を初めてみた。他の出品者とまた異なった輝きと軽やかさ、生命力のある絵画で、その年の大賞を受賞された。彼女の描きとめる一瞬が、いつも潔くて気に入っている。会うと人柄も作品に遠からず。農家に嫁いだ生命との生活を、とっても気持ちよくはなしてくれる。コロナ禍のこの暮らし、彼女はどう感じているだろうか。変わりゆく季節、生命との対峙。彼女の近作を紹介したい。

I saw Akamatsu’s work for the first time jurying for the Gunma Biennale for Young Artists 2019. Standing out from the other exhibitors with a vividness and vitality in her paintings, she won the grand prize of that year. I am fond of the purity of the moments that she depicts. Her character is no different from her art. She talks very comfortably about her life in nature after marrying into a farmer’s family. I wonder how she is feeling about live amidst COVID. Changing seasons; confrontation with life. I wish to introduce her recent works.
