Profile

1988年静岡県に生まれ、京都造形芸術大学美術工芸学科を卒業後、東北芸術工科大学大学院で彫刻を学ぶ。
現在は京都府在住、滋賀県のアトリエで制作している。

Born in Shizuoka, 1988.
After graduating from Kyoto University of Art and Design, Muramatsu studied sculpture at Tohoku University of Art and Design.
Lives in Kyoto.

Statement

人の気配を感じる物が好きだ。
身の回りにあって人を支えてくれる道具達。使うことを目的に作られた物であるが、その姿は美しく、魅力を感じる。
気に入った物に出会うと、そのどこかを石にしてしまいたくなる。その物の存在を石の中に留めて残したいのだろう。
制作の途中で物や石が自分の存在感を主張してきたり、互いを飾るための脇役になったりと様々な顔を覗かせてくる。
物と石。私はその間を行ったり来たりしながら物を石化していく。

I like things that hold signs of people.
Tools that are around us and support humans – although made for the purpose of use, their appearance is beautiful and attractive. When I come across something I like, I want to turn a part of it into stone. I want to keep the existence of the object inside the stone.
During production, the objects and stones assert their presence, or they play a supporting role to decorate each other. Objects and stones; I petrify things as I go back and forth between them.

身の回りにあって私たちを支えてくれる道具達。 それらは使うことを目的に作られた物であるが、その姿は美しく魅力を感じさせる。 また、自然が織りなす形や模様は偶然性を伴いながらも淘汰された、まさに美しさの元である。 その自然が創り上げた石を使い、人が作為的に創造した物の形にあてはめる。 村松の作品は、人の知覚情報の大部分を司る視覚対象として、物の形という概念を再度据え直し、自然物である石の性質と人が創り上げる美的な造形性の間に美しさを感じさせる。

The tools that support us in our daily lives – though created for the purpose of utility, their shapes are beautiful and are attractive. The shapes and patterns born from nature represent the fortuity that has become obsolete, and are the source of beauty. Using stone created by nature, he replaces shapes fabricated by humans. Muramatsu’s artwork targets the visual senses which govern a vast amount of the human perceptual information, to reset the idea of an object form, and creates a sense of beauty between the properties of natural stone and the aesthetical formations of humans.
