最近AFKを支えていただく方々から、「美術史を学びたい」というお声をいただくことが増えています。これは素晴らしい変化であり、購入や鑑賞から一歩踏み出す意志が生まれたのでしょう。
私自身も「歴史」とは何かという問いをずっと持ち続けて創作活動を続けているのですが、「10年」という数字が「歴史」という概念を派生させるのではないかと感じることがあります。これは明らかに年齢を重ねて徐々に輪郭を掴めるようになる概念で、直近ではこのAFKが10年を越える瞬間を迎えることになりました。ひたすら前を向いてアップデートを繰り返し、やっと自分たちの足跡が少し砂浜に残っていることを知る10年目です。

さて、美術史に戻りましょう。美術史とは、業界内部の論争などではなく、社会の激変（特に戦争など）に翻弄されながら何かを残し続けてゆく、人間の営みとしての意志の痕跡なのでしょう。
まずは「産業革命」「ロシア革命」「第一次世界大戦」――ここに近現代美術の秘密は全て埋め込まれています。ピエール・カバンヌによるマルシェルデュシャン晩年のインタビューを是非お読み下さい。老境を迎えた彼の声が、あなたに至福の時をもたらします。「私は幸せです」と誰もがつぶやける未来に向けて。

Recently, I have received an increasing number of voices from supporters of AFK wishing to study art history. This is an excellent shift – it seems the will to take a step further from purchasing and appreciation has emerged.
I too have always held the question of what history is as I continue my creative practice, there are times I feel that perhaps it is the number, "ten years", that formulates the notion of history. Clearly, this is a concept of which the outlines can be grasped gradually as one matures – recently we have been able to meet the moment AFK reached its tenth year. After endlessly updating facing only forwards, it is the tenth year we finally learn that our footprints have remained faintly on the seashore.

Now, let us return to art history. Art history is not an internal discussion of the industry, but the imprints of the human will taking the form of actions, of continuing to create whilst being at the mercy of the drastic changes of society (especially wars).
Firstly, the Industrial Revolution, the Russian Revolution, and the First World War – all the secrets of modern to contemporary art are embedded here. I strongly recommend reading the interviews of Marcelle Duchamp in his later years by Pierre Cabanne. His voice entering the vale of years will bring you a blissful moment. To a future where everybody can say, "I am content".
