Statement

あまりにも長い時間が過ぎてしまうと、記憶というものはどれだけ大切にしまっておいてもそのままを留めておくことは難しい。
ちょっとずつ失いながら、同時に日々少しずつ補って積み重ねていく。
今頭の中に浮かぶ景色はそうしてできあがったものかもしれない。
記憶が自分のなかでどのように存在しているのかということに興味を持ち、油絵の具やパステルを用いて個人の記憶やそれにまつわる感覚を他者と共有できる方法を探っている。

It’s hard to remember memories over a long time, even if they are kept very carefully.
They fade away little by little, and at the same time are supplemented day by day.
A scene I remember now, may have been created like this.
I am interested in how a memory exists within me, I use oil paints and pastels to explore ways to share personal memories and their related feelings with others.

彼女の中で日々変化する記憶の存在に興味を持ち、記憶のみを頼りに制作している。近作では金木犀の葉の記憶を、グレーの紙に同色のパステルで画面を覆い尽くすように描く。その床に置かれた作品は、照明によって葉の陰影の光と影のネガポジが入れ替わるように変化し、その瞬間にイメージが揺らぐ。まるで過去の記憶と未来の予感がせめぎ合う中で存在し、絶えず新たに生成し続け完成されることのない現在を示しているかのようである。

Her production is based solely on her memory, from her interest in the memories that change inside her day by day. In recent works, she covers screens of gray paper in pastels of the same colour, depicting memories of fragrant olive leaves. The artwork placed on the ground, changes as if the light and dark of the leaves’ shadows switch from negative to positive depending on the lighting, the image wavering at this moment. It is as if they exist conflicting between the memories of the past and hopes of the future, suggesting the always newly-creating and never-complete present.
