Statement
目に見えないものへの信仰や精神の所在をめぐって思索しながら、乾漆技法を用いた作品制作を行う。
主に壺や石など、古来呪術の道具や魔除けとして使われていたものをモチーフにし、「塗っては研ぐ」を繰り返す漆工の手法を通して、精神と物質、想像と生活の境域を探っている。
I create artwork using the dry lacquer technique while contemplating faith and spirit.
Using object motifs such as jars and stones, that have been used as tools for magic and as amulets since ancient times, I explore the boundaries between spirit and matter, and imagination and life through the repetitive process of ‘painting and grinding’.

夢をみた・・玉虫厨子に描かれている薩埵王子が飢えた虎の母子に自らの肉を供するためにひらりと崖から身を投げた。その身体に私が同化して愛してやまないターセム監督The Fall続編のようにひらひらと頭から落ちてゆく。樹幹からしたたる漆の樹液も薄暗いモスクで旋回するスーフィーたちの上に落ちてゆく。螺鈿の放つほのかな虹彩も漆黒の闇に落ちてゆく。なぜかは問わないでおこう、森山の乾漆の持つ威力は・・こうして事象のかけらを落下させたのだ。

I had a dream. Prince Sattva as depicted on the Tamamushi Shrine, lightly throws himself off a cliff to offer his own meat to the starving tiger mother and its cubs. Assimilating that body, I fall fluttering from my head, like a sequel to The Fall by Tarsem Singh I have an undying love for. The sap of urushi lacquer that drips from a tree also falls on the Sufis whirling inside a darkish mosque. The gentle light emitted from the mother-of-pearl, falls into absolute darkness. I will not question why; the power in Moriyama’s dry lacquer… makes fragments of phenomena fall.
