STATEMENT
感情や精神といった人の内側の部分の表現そして現代における身体をテーマに制作をしている
私が製作を進めるうえで重要に思っていることは「人体」ではなく「身体」であるとゆうことで身体とは精神や感情を伴った体でありそれを表現するためにはネットやSNSとの関係が必要になってくるのではないかと感じ制作している。
ケランジェロやロダンのような崇高な体とは違い情けなさや不安に駆られる寄生虫のような身体表現を試みている。
My work is based on the expression of the inner side of humans such as emotions and the spirit, and the body in the modern context.
It is not the “human body”, but the “body” that is important in my production; a body is something that contains spirit and emotions, and I believe that its connection with the internet and social networking services are necessary to express this.
Unlike the sublime bodies by Michelangelo and Rodin, I try to create expressions that are like a parasite that is driven by misery or anxiety.

現代人の精神と身体の関係をテーマに制作している古田充。彼が表現する身体は、ミケランジェロやロダンといった彫刻家が目指していた”崇高で美的な身体”ではない。バイクやゲーム機のコントローラーなどのモチーフの表面を皺の寄った皮膚で覆う彫刻のシリーズは、人の内側にある根本的な不安や強迫観念、他者に対する生理的な違和感を表現している。

Mitsuru Furuta bases his production on the relationship between the mind and body of modern people. The bodies that he expresses are not the sublime and beautiful bodies like those that sculptors such as Michelangelo and Rodin aimed for. His series of sculptures that envelop the surface of motifs such as motorbikes and video game controllers with a wrinkly leather, express the fundamental anxiety, obsession, and instinctive discomfort towards others, that exist inside people.
