STATEMENT
私の作品のテーマは「絵具」だ。材料としての絵具ではなく、絵具を主役とした作品を作っている。絵具を主役とし作品を完成させるために試行錯誤を繰り返したが、私が描く行為を画面に施せば施すほど、絵具よりも描く行為が前に出てしまうことに気が付いた。そのゆえに「最小限の行為／一筆書き（One stroke）」のみで作品を完成させるというルールを定め、それに従い制作をしている。
世界最古の合成顔料は3500年前にエジプトで作られた青色だった。それは「作られたラピスラズリ（作られた青）」と呼ばれていた。それゆえに私は作られた絵具の象徴として青を使用している。
My work’s theme is “paint as itself”. In my work paint is not a material, but the subject. I had repeated trial and error to create a piece where paint exists as the subject, but I realised that the more I paint on the screen, the more the process out-stands the paint itself. I therefore set a rule, to minimise the process, to paint in one stroke, when creating a painting.
The oldest artificial pigment in the world was a blue colour that was created in Egypt 3500 years ago. It was known as the “artificial lapis lazuli”. I use the colour blue as a symbol of artificial paints.

香月美菜は大学院の修了展で大ブレークを果たし、その勢いを保ったまま台湾や韓国を含むアジア全域に一気ファンを獲得しつつある。青一色の大量の絵の具を大画面に一気に引き下ろす豪快な作品は、禅の高僧が描く深淵な東洋哲学を香り立たせ、かつイブ・クラインの世界観にも通ずる普遍性を勝ち得ている。この事がミニマルブルーに恋をして満たされぬ思いを感じていた多くのファンの心を揺さぶる事となった。マインドフルネスの講座より、彼女の作品に毎朝つつまれる静寂をお届けしたい。

Mina Katsuki made her breakthrough at the Degree Show, and with the same momentum she is acquiring fans from all over Asia including from Taiwan and Korea. Her dynamic paintings in which she drags down a great amount of blue paint in one go, has the scent of the abyss of eastern philosophy depicted by Zen high priests, and also the universality similar to that of Yves Klein’s outlook. This has rocked the hearts of many fans who had longed for a minimal blue, yet were unfulfilled. I would like to propose the silence enveloped by her work every morning, rather than a course on mindfulness.
