STATEMENT
私は蜃気楼やオーロラといった自然界の現象からインスピレーションを得て、画面上に「状態」を視覚化する試みをしています。
自身で記録したイメージを解体し、偶然性と現象を取り込みながら画面に金属箔で再構築していくという手段を取ることで、情報としての画像をより知覚に訴えかける視覚体験へと変化させています。
光の影響を受けながら移ろうイメージは、鑑賞者を画面の中へ中へと誘いこんでゆくでしょう。
そこでは質感や種、質量、空間、色といった世界を構成する要素が均質的に扱われ、1つの光学現象のように現れています。空間構造における明暗が融合していく構造を作り出し、まるで世界の輪郭が消失していくかのように、部分と全体のとの関係性が流動的な状態として存在しているのです。
このような目に見えてはいるが、その実態や実感が希薄な状態を体験することは、日々の中にも多々感じることがあります。
繕われた表層、こうした希薄な現象を前に、鑑賞者は何を知覚するのだろうか。そこに興味があり、「状態」に対して様々な視点からアプローチをしています。
I attempt to visualise ‘states’, inspired by natural phenomenons such as mirages and auroras, onto a screen.
By deconstructing images I have recorded, to then recompose them with metallic marks on a screen, incorporating coincidences and phenomenons, the images that were collections of data, become visual experiences that calls upon our senses.
The images that waver under the influence of light, will lure its viewers deep into the screen.
Inside, all elements that compose the world, such as texture, class, mass, space and colour, are treated alike, to appear as a sort of optical phenomenon. By creating a structure where spatially-made light and shadow merge, the relation of parts and their whole become fluid, as if the borders of the world are disappearing.
These experiences where the reality or feeling of something I see through my eyes is vague, happens often in my life.
What do viewers sense before such vague phenomenons, such fabricated surfaces? I observe ‘states’ from various dimensions to satisfy this curiosity.

能條雅由は大学院在学中にフランスのギャラリーのスタジオビジットを契機に、銀箔とシルクスクリーンを複雑に重ね合わす独特の技法を用いた作品を大量に制作する事となった。海外への発送や取引もすべて彼自身が行うなかで国際的な活動の素地を育んだ。大学院修了展における個人販売額のレコードは今も誰にも破られていない。先般開催されたアートフェア東京でも完売のいまもっとも注目を集めるアーティストである。

Masayuki Nojo started to create abundantly, work using a unique method which complexly layers silver leaf and silkscreen since his studio visit to a French gallery during his student days. He has also nurtured a ground for international activity through dealing with shippings and transactions with overseas himself. His individual record of sales turnover at the Degree Show has not yet been broken by anyone. He is the artist of the time whose work was also sold out at the recently held Art Fair Tokyo.
