PROFILE

2019年アーティストの黒木結・宇野湧とアーティストリサーチプログラムMIMIC（熊野陽平・岡本秀）により結成。アーティストの黒木結は、2018年より「FOOD」というSNSで募集した他人の家で食事を作るという活動を行なっている。フェアフェアは、陶磁器作家の宇野湧が黒木の作る料理のメニューに対し器を制作する《テーブル・パフォーマンス》を実施・記録する活動を行うユニットである。

Founded in 2019 by the artists Yui Kuroki and Yu Uno, and artist research program MIMIC (Yohei Kumano and Shu Okamoto). Yui Kuroki has been preparing meals at other people’s homes, recruited through the SNS “FOOD” since 2018. Fairfair is a unit that conducts and records table performances, where ceramic artist Yu Uno creates plates for the menu that Kuroki designs.

STATEMENT

フェアフェアは、他人のためにメニューや料理を作る黒木の活動、他人に宛てて陶磁器を制作する宇野の活動をベースとし、作り手・受け手・買い手・鑑賞者などのともすれば非対称になる関係性について、実践的にコミュニケーションの方法を探りながら思考し続けます。

Fairfair, based Kuroki’s activities to prepare menus and food for others, and Uno’s activities to create ceramics for others, practically explores methods of communication while questioning the asymmetric relationships between creators, receivers, buyers and viewers.

「出品するとしたら、僕、面倒なこと言いますよ。」依頼への熊野陽平氏の返答です。美術市場や鑑賞者との関係性を考える作家達と取り組むという希望でした。パフォーマンスを「売る」ことにとどまらず、フィールドワークを経て「プランニング」の売買自体を「作品」に昇華させてしまうというアイデアは、一般的な美術作品の売買プロセスを破壊して違う道筋を開拓する、面倒なことだと思います。芸術と社会が繋がる新たな“現場”が見られることを楽しみにしています。
